An Encounter with 'Death'

I heard a few mortal voices amidst a fainting beep..beep..beep!

My body turned numb and my vision blurring,

as I felt myself drowning in eternal sleep.

And there I was in the dark world,

with unexplainable darkness and an unending silence.

I wandered into the wilderness and heard someone murmuring my name

Curious was I in a place where no light was in sight,

but desperately moved towards the mysterious voice.

"Is there anybody there?", I asked aloud,

sprinting towards the mystical voice.

A soft air fans the darkness apart,

and there comes a glimpse of eternal beauty.

Seemed immortal and serene for ages,

Introducing herself as the Goddess of Death!

"Say, if yet your task is done,

on thy mortal earth where you were born?

Come live with me and be my love,

and we will all the pleasures prove!"

Startled at first but mustered my courage,

"I kept my promise, and with all my strength I came to you.

Just as each twinkling star that now shines so brightly,

Will someday lose its light.

And the mighty mountains looming high,

will someday crumbled lie.

One fine day I too must give up my murmuring breath,

And I shall embrace your icy arms and creep to death.

But, still, miles to go and a lot to do,

and draw more smiles on faces yet so few!

Oh mighty Death, thus let me go and live,

And unlamented let me die!!"

I felt my blood racing through my vessels,

desperate to drench my frigid heart.

And as I heard my throbbing heart,

I realized that Death's shackles had fallen apart.

Thus now I have a tale to tell,

about my encounter with 'Death',

that seems more like an uncanny spell!
