A Wish For Once
A Wish For Once
I wish, one day we wake up
Next to the one who has our hearts
And our chores bring smiles without reason
I wish, one day
Our melancholic days turn bright
While we quarrel over trifles
And bad oranges
Kissing deep the minute next
I wish, houses give way to homes
And we lie down
Wrapping the blanket a tad tighter
While the floor gets messy with corn pops
I wish, we sit and sip
The tea brought in hours ago
Not complaining ever
And the warmth across the window
Reaches our bones
Refilling our cups with the same.
I wish, our silence
Sends ripples in the air
And we catch the love therein
Bottling them within us-
We caress the kitchen garden
That withered away:
We'd forgotten to water them all!
I wish, we sleep for hours together
And stuff mouthfuls of sugar candies
Before rushing to work
And the lunchboxes wait for us to
Remember them,
The oil relentlessly dripping from the sides.
I wish, the fairies for once,
Come down with their wands
That bear stars
And turn the pumpkins of monotony
To royal coaches
And lizards to coachmen;
I wish, every tree sheds happiness down
Letting every ephemeral tale
Of angels and fairy godmothers
Come true.
