A COVID In My Country

I've watched the earth devour men of valour 

And the gloomy view of of the sun spawns melancholy

Into the heart of myriads brethren 

In my country, Nigeria

Our roads are now calmer

Like a town witnessing the vengeful apocalypse

Our mouth, dry like the sand of the desert 

And our voice unheard like the silent sounds of the deserted

Greenish plants are now brownish 

And the sun has grown moody 

The rain beats now platter in distress 

And the birds sing of our glum

There is a COVID in my country 

Transforming it into a mournful cemetery
