Hydrophobia

Hydrophobia

2 mins
1.6K

He was a child- 7 years old,

Somewhat shy, somewhat bold.

He had a smile and even some tears;

But till then, nothing he did fear.

And then once, his mom said;

There is something as good as sleeping on the bed.

We should surely learn how to swim,

He got convinced at once as the bed was heaven to him.

For everyone, this new day was a normal day;

But for him, it was a turning point in every way.

He didn't know what was up for him next;

Something which can't be explained in text!

He was obviously very happy and excited,

Swimming, swimming he continuously recited.

As soon as he reached there;

Adrenaline rushed in everywhere.

While his mom was completing the long formalities,

He unknowingly surpassed the authorities.

His level of excitement was so high;

He didn't read the instructions, what a sigh.

He touched the water and slowly went into it,

His body going underwater bit by bit;

He didn't notice how deep it was,

Just going down without a pause.

The moment of truth came,

When he realized it's not a game.

He couldn't find any ground below,

And went into the water with a vanishing glow.

He started to weep,

And realized he had come in too deep.

He couldn't stop his breath for long,

And he felt the water going into his lungs for wrong.

He tried a lot to go upwards,

But failed miserably going more downwards.

The small kid just lost his hope,

And just stayed there with nothing to cope.

The next thing he remembered was,

All people coming around him without a pause.

He found himself lying with water all around,

And the next moment, he ran to never turn back around.

That experience lives with him till today,

And haunts him in some or the other way.

But somewhere inside him, he can still feel;

That someday, swimming will be no big deal!
