The Distorted Society
The Distorted Society
Either 'born to rule' or 'obliged to serve'
Two dominant divisions in society I observe
The deep wide wedge leaves me perplexed
Why privileges are a chosen few's preserve
Servitude, for millions, their only fate
Grim, hebetudinous, life isn't great
No, let up in subservient existence
Subjugation does not ebb or abate
Your respect your dignity goes for a toss
When people in power choose to be cross
Elephantine egos hard to feed
Unwitting errors too invite the wrath
Fickle minded, hungry for power
Oblivious of your gashes and scars
Agony and anguish that stifle and smother
The 'born to rule' just don't bother
Your rights infringed your voice suppressed
Deprived of your due you drag on depressed
Speak your mind at your own risk
A harsh lesson you learn when oppressed
You cower you cringe you bear you suffer
'We too are humans' in anguish you utter
Words of gratitude are all you wish
Life of dignity is all that matters
Will 'born to rule' ever grant this wish?
Will 'obliged to serve' ever find their niche?
The distorted society leaves me flummoxed
Why are privileges not everyone's preserve?
Why are some mortals just 'Born to Serve'?
