Navratri Day 6: Evil

The evil surroundings can destroy a Good soul,

It is the function of God Rama to destroy evil wherever it occurs, a

It is equally the function of God Rama to give to his devotees like Bibhishana a free charter of irrevocable self-government,

Evil people hate the light because it reveals themselves to themselves, They hate goodness because it reveals their badness,

They hate to love because it reveals their laziness,

They will destroy the light, the goodness,

The love in order to avoid the pain of such self-awareness.

I believe in evil, but all my life,

I've gone back and forth about whether or not there's an outside evil,

Whether or not there's a force in the world that really wants to destroy us,

From the inside out, individually and collectively,

My silence is not my weakness,

I am conserving my energy to destroy evil.

Once you have the courage to look upon evil,

Seeing it for what it is and naming it by its true name,

It is powerless against you and you can destroy it,

The evil one knows where to attack, He is going to attack the home,

He is going to destroy the family, That's what he wants to do,

Let us make up our minds he will not do it in our families.

And I will destroy the cities of your land,

I will pull down all your fortifications,

I will take away evil-doing from your hand,

There will be no divinations among you,

A terrifying spiritual and moral tide of evil has already loosed us from our spiritual moorings,

Monstrous new ideas that could easily destroy our freedoms are rushing into the vacuum.

When evil men destroy, good men must build and bind,

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral,

Begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy,

Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
