Teacher, pleaded with the student,

could you please show me the way?

I’m lost and forlorn,

Having gone astray.

My life is so distorted,

My dreams, all lie shattered.

My ambitions all are shaken

With the ill paths, I have taken.

Teacher, O my teacher

Could you please show me the way?

Sudden gloom has filled my mind,

My heart is all so broken.

Terrible things that I have done,

Have left me so forsaken.

I never stopped to sit and think,

About the fact that I may sink.

Into a tragic life so bare,

With no one to even feel or care.

Teacher, O my teacher,

Could you please show me the way?

You are the light, I should have seen,

The candle of brightness is your beam.

Your teachings are all so full of sheen,

Always encouraged me to dream.

But alas! I strayed away,

Ignoring your urging way.

I now regret what I have done,

And so, return the wandering son.
