The Pain of being alone. Raima and Sonali were two cousin sisters. They stayed in different States but were connected via mobile. Everyday morning and evening they called each other and talked. They were very fond of each other. Raima was elder and studied in class seven and Sonali was younger and studied in class five. Once a year they net in their grandfather's residence during summer vacation. They enjoyed grandmother's pickle and played the whole day. Those days were the most beautiful one. They also assisted grandfather in gardening. They enjoyed meal cooked by their grandmother. During rainy days they were not allowed to go out. They played indoor games like ludo, carrom and chess. They also played with stones and seeds. Grandmother pampered them very much. During afternoon after lunch they used to do their holiday home works. Every year for a month they were together. When Raima was in class ten on January month they for a bad news of her grandfather's death. Hearing the news both the sister's family rushed to their maternal grandfather's residence.

Grandmother was crying and the neighbors were consoling her. Raima and Sonali rushed to meet their grandmother. She hugged them, tears rolled down. Her uncle took the dead body of their sweet grandpa decorated with flowers. They could not believe that grandpa is no more to look after them and guide them. Whenever grandpa used to go to the market he used to purchase story books and quiz books and have three days time to study. Fourth day grandpa became the quiz Master. Raima and Sonali loved to play quiz and get reward. Also their grandpa made special recipes of fried rice and fish. They enjoyed each and every dish. The whole day passed by. During evening their uncle returned home and the elderly people told him about the rituals which he has to perform during thirteen days. That night both sisters slept with their grandma. They stayed there for twenty days. Later they returned back home. Now both of them everyday called grandmother and talked with her. Again during summer vacation they went to grandmother 's house. They missed their grandpa badly. After Raima's board exam was over, her father sent her to her grandmother 's house. She stayed there for three months and joined the computer class. After a long time grandma was smiling. Raima asked what happened. She answered that she was very happy to get Raima nearby. After grandpa passed away I became all alone. The gardens became barren. Raima asked her grandmother to start gardening. Next day they purchased seeds from the market, called the labourers to plough the field and played the seeds. Now grandmother had time to look after the field and her days passed by. Raima secured ninth thank in board exam and started studying science. Whenever her grandmother had any query about gardening and plantation she asked Raima. Raima wanted to study agriculture. Within two years her grandmother started planting banana and coconut trees. She also used to grow vegetables using organic manure. Now grandmother became a business woman. Raima's father helped her to register her form in grandfather's name.

After five years Raima completed her studies and was doing research. She and Sonali visited grandma every three months. Sonali was also studying science. One August morning they got a news that their grandmother got awarded for most dedicated service in the district. They were happy bit could not understand the meaning of the award. They called grandmother but she didn't pick the phone. She rushed to her father and required about the award. Her father replied that this award is for social service. But Raima asked how grandma is doing social service. Her father explained. For seven long years your grandmother is doing business and Fifty percent of the profit she is donating to the Hospital for treatment of poor children and women. She also is serving free food in her office everyday for the poor and needy from 12pm to 4pm. She also donates every year a handsome amount to the nearby schools. So she is a social worker. Raima understood everything.,called Sonali told her everything and decided to visit grandmother's place. Next day they were there. On 26th January the award was given and Raima And Sonali accompanied their grandma. During evening they sat together and grandma was silent. Raima asked what are you thinking. She replied time flies so fast. When your grandpa left me I was so lonely. No goal in life. I was so sad. But you asked me to take up gardening and I got my goal. I was able to help others and I am happy. Thank you God. That night Raima and Sonali cooked dinner and their mothers assisted them. Dinner was wonderful as served by grandpa. Everyone missed grandpa. His big photo frame in the room seemed as if he was watching us and he too was very happy to know of his wife's achievement. Everyone was happy. Time flies and creates New things every moment.
