Vinit had won the prestigious “Employee of the Year” Award from among fifty global nominations. He had been chosen as a lead advisor to the CEO of the company. Vinit arrived to receive this award along with his wife, Anjali.

Vinit was invited to talk about how it felt to be the recipient of such a huge honor. Vinit thanked everybody for their support and also recalled how it was an overwhelming feeling especially since he had been a poor performer for close to three years before doing very well. He shared that, for ages, he had been trapped in a vicious cycle of poor performance and criticism. Of course, in a cut-throat competitive world, Vinit decided not to blame anyone for not giving him a chance to understand where he went wrong.

As if like an angel, Anjali came into his life like a glimmer of hope. Vinit admitted he was a total failure when Anjali became his friend. Despite her own problems and intense grief, she stood by him. Anjali taught Vinit to be strong in such a devastating state of his life. She endeavored to let him know where he lacked, what he was really good at, what was exactly going on. Together, they deciphered the cause of the mess.

Together, they found a solution too.

Therefore, Vinit proudly announced that Anjali was the reason for his success.

Everyone cheered for the unassuming Anjali who herself had made a great name for herself in her line of work.

Furthermore, Vinit emphasized how Anjali had gone through quite a lot of pain when Vinit decided to marry her. People highlighted that Anjali was a divorcee and she could only get an utter failure like Vinit since she was marrying for a second time. The crowd was quiet listening to this. Many bent their heads.

Vinit became emotional as he recalled how his credibility and Anjali’s worth were made fun of and rudely mocked at by people.

“They called me a “not-so-lucky” groom. They tagged me as someone “getting married to a divorcee” since I was not capable of bringing any better into my life. They pitied mine and Anjali’s choices. I still do not understand why a man marrying a divorcee is such a big issue. It is indeed the choice of two mature people in love with another.”

By now, everybody in the auditorium was emotional too.

“Today I stand here proudly to announce that, my wife has tremendous credentials to be proud of than being sympathized as a divorcee. And I, I am eternally grateful that she chose to be with me in spite of my constant failures. Thank you, Anjali.”

Vinit ended his speech. People gave him and Anjali a standing ovation. All those who had passed remarks on his personal life did feel mortified at the mention of the incidents.
