The Last Matchstick

The Last Matchstick

One morning while performing the daily ritual of lighting the lamp, I noticed that there was only one matchstick in the matchbox…the last one. The first thought that came to my mind was that there was no way this matchstick could be allowed to fizzle out, let me ensure that no wind from anywhere causes that to happen, put the lighted match stick on the cotton wick in such a way that it lights up properly.

Why is one never as cautious when there are many sticks in the matchbox? Why be casual then and so cautious now when there is only one matchstick in the box.

We tend to be casual when there is ample resource available, we always believe that good times will last forever, that of course never happens.

It is normal for a young adult to enjoy a carefree life, but as one grows in age, one will have to learn to apply brakes on many things that one did with abandon.

As we begin to gray, if we have exercised caution in time, we will have good health and resources to take us through the end.

So, before you come to the last matchbox, learn to be cautious and aware.
