The History Of Golconda Fort
The History Of Golconda Fort
The Golconda Fort is in Hyderabad of Telangana. The Golconda Fort has many big gates and 87 bastions (burj) in the walls. King Qutubshahi Sultan ruled here one after another from 1518 to 1687. Before 1200 the fort was made of mud. The Golconda has so many gardens, fields and factories and some small palaces also have inside the Fort. Many people like farmers and workers also living here. It must be a small town. Even in those days, the fort must have two floors but it has many big halls and rooms. There are some fountains and big tanks. In Golconda the fight between Qutubshahi Sultan and Aurangzeb held. They used big guns and cannons. The army of Aurangzeb camped for eight months outside the Golconda. In those days emperors and kings played such tricks. They tried to make smaller kingdoms a part of their own kingdom. This was done sometimes by friendship, sometimes by flattery, or even by marriage between families. And when nothing else worked, they also attacked them! If the army tried to come from a different side, then the soldiers in the bastions would have seen it from a distance. No wonder it was difficult to attack the fort! Many people and soldiers on both sides must have been killed in all this fighting. I love Golconda Fort.
