The Guilt Of Happiness

She was not born with a gold spoon in her mouth. Neither silver nor a bronze spoon. Yet she grew up with all the facilities that one considered a privilege. A comfortable life, safe home, nice parents, good education and lots of opportunities. Rose knew she was blessed. But as she started discovering more about the outside world, she realized her privileges were handed over. It didn’t belong to her. It was never hers in the first place. Or else why does she have to live with her parents’ best friends. Or else why was she adopted at a young age. Or why else did her parents die soon after she was born? Her arrival into this world had made her parents happy. Yet the same happiness led to their death in the form of a car accident. Rose continues to live even today; carrying with her the guilt of gifting her parents’ happiness. The guilt of killing them.
