The Golden Lace

Mini used to live with her mother. Mini's mother was a tailor. One day the landlord's wife gave Mimi's mother a saree made from fine silk. She wanted a golden lace bottom of the saree. The golden lace which she gave was very special. It was from Kanchi. With trust, she gave it to Mini's mother. First, she had a lot of work to be done. She was very tired. She went to take a nap. Mini came to the home from school. She found the lace attractive. She took it and started to play with it. She saw the sewing machine. She started to stitch with the machine. She was playing with it. Then her mother woke up and saw her playing. Then she saw the lace in the hands of Mini. She instantly snatched it. She just scowled her without hearing to her.

The next day mini went to school and net Valli. Valli is the daughter of the landlord. Her best friend. She said to her about what happened last evening. Valli goat an idea. She said, "we will go to Kumari aunty's shop and search for the same lace. Both agreed.

That evening, Mini went to her house and then threw the bag and ran out of the house. She met Valli below the tamarind tree. Both went to the shop. They were searching for a while. But they did not find it. They decided to go to Mini's house.

After reaching, they found the same kind of lace. Valli asked Mini can she play with it. But she said, "no, my mother will scold again ." But Valli convinced her to play with it. Valli won and she was playing with it. Then it was noon. Her mother saw the lace in their hand.

She was tight-lipped. Then she called Mini aside and said that it was the piece which was the only left to stitch

Mini went to Valli and said the story.

Valli was scared. She did not know what to do at that time except saying good night. The next day in the school, both sat under a tree and were thinking about what to do. Then ultimately they decided to apologize Valli's mother. Then after school, they went to apologize to her. After listening to the story she laughed. Both were in surprise. She said that Valli's mother said all about what happened. Then both looked at each other. But she comprehended that this small kid's actions are really good. They did not lie to anyone. They accepted their blunder. Happy Valli went to bed mother and said thank you.

Her mother asked her not to touch anything without her permission.

Then Mini and Valli  learned a value that always truth might be bitter. But after accepting that, we feel so light.
