There was a poor man who went about selling goods from place to place. He always loaded his donkey with the goods and travelled long distances . One day he had a lot of salt and thought of selling it to a market.

He loaded his donkey with sacks of salt and started his journey to the market . On the way, there was a river with a narrow bridge . While they were crossing the bridge ,the man went to the other side safely but the donkey slipped and fell inside the river.

The man quickly took the donkey out of the water. But the salt that was carrying melted in the water. The donkey thought that the river water had taken all that was inside the bag by magic.

The man became upset and went all the way back to his home with the donkey . He again put some sacks of salt on the donkey and set off for the market .This time the donkey played a trick and fell inside the river voluntarily. He wanted to lighten his weight by the magic of the river.

The man saw what the donkey did and thought , "let me teach a good lesson to the donkey!after all,I am cleverer than him" .

He again took him back to his home .This time, instead of loading salt the man loaded sponges on the donkey.again while they were crossing the river ,the donkey slipped into the water but when he came out he felt a lot more weight than before . The man laughed at the donkey and the donkey realised that one must never try to fool someone who is cleverer than you.
