The Fallen Tree

The scene at 6 AM was quite different today. The silent road, which usually witnessed people walking, jogging, playing with dogs, etc. had a bunch of people gathered in the middle. As I walked close to them, I observed that a giant tree had fallen last night and it had divided the road exactly in half, such that it was not easy to bypass. People were standing on both sides of the tree like it was a condolence meet, although nobody was in mourning state. It was just a situation for people to gather and chit-chat.

Since the road was blocked, I returned back home and got busy with daily routine work. In the evening when I was enjoying my tea, a random thought about that fallen tree came into my mind. Thoughts started flooding in and I time traveled on its life, thinking on how many generations that tree would have seen? How many rains and storms would have shaken him? Yet it stood tall. 

This tree would have celebrated all seasons in it’s best way as it is a symbol of nature. In Spring, it would have bloomed with bright natural colors and mesmerized people. During summer, it would have burnt itself and had given shade to all pedestrians. In Monsoon, it would have got a new life after quenching from rain. After all, who is bothered to put a drop of water in their roots? Including me. In Autumn, it would have shed its leaves to give the message that not all days in life are the same. Winter would have brought him to a dormant stage to silently bear cold and wait for Spring days. It always believed in giving and led a chaos-free life. All these were enough reasons for it to rejoice in its life. But sad! Today was a day when this life came to an end.

The fallen tree was unconsciously imprinted in my mind. I mourned on the tree and thanked for reminding me the truth that whoever has come in this world has to go. The way we live life, only matters.
