The Darkest Hour

I realised that at times, things happened so fast that we actually ask ourselves if they are meant to happen. That's in my own case too. What I never got the chance to do that I later regretted.

As a eighteen year old girl, I had made myself believe the fact that I can actually make anything happen on my own. So, I started the adventure of my new age. I wanted to explore and learn new things.

That new age made me believe I can do anything at any time.

So, against my Mother's wish, I sneaked out to attend a friend's birthday party.

Ella is my best friend and I couldn't afford to stay off on her birthday. I had to go. I dressed elegantly for the party.

At exactly five in the evening, I got to the birthday party and I seems to be the last person to arrived. Everywhere was rowdy and I hardly set my eyes on my friend. I sat down on the chair sipping over my orange juice when I saw Aria our third friend walking into an abandoned building in front of Ella's house with a guy. I didn't want to feel lonely,so I thought of following her up. I tried calling her before she entered the building but it seems she is more engrossed in her conversation with the boy she is with. And judging by the intimacy, they seems to be in love. I walked quietly after them trying to pace up with them. Just then,my phone rang and I had to pick it. It was Mum. She had probably found out that I sneaked out of the house to attend a birthday party. She seems to be boiling with rage and I was trying my best to calm her down that was how I lost the trail of Aria and her supposed lover. After talking for almost two minutes on phone my morale was down and I had to go back to the party to calm myself down.

Just then, I caught glimpse of the same man with another girl and not with Aria anymore and he was actually walking towards the same building again. I was confused. I tried looking for Aria in the crowd and she was nowhere to be found.

Out of fear that gripped me, I followed the man into the building this time, more quietly. Everywhere was dark and I almost stumble on some items as I walk behind them. Just then, I saw him took the girl to one of the rooms in the building and closed the door. I tried peeping through the keyhole. He was clutching to the girl. I was about to turn away when I caught the glimpse and it seems the hour changed. I went back to the keyhole. He was eating the lady alive. As I tempted to hold my mouth with my palm and prevented myself from shouting. I took to my heels.

That was the mistake i made because he left the room and run after me. I run as fast as i can and rushed into the crowd. I saw him as he started searching frantically for me in the crowd. I wanted to tell Ella. I wanted to inform her but she seems to be too busy attending to visitors. 

At last I got to where she was. I tried to talk her out of it but she will not listen. She keep on laughing and telling me that Connor is her cousin and that he had been on Ella's tail for a very long time. She will not believe me. And when I saw Connor coming towards Ella ,i had to run away and straight down home.

I couldn't sleep that night because I can't keep off the image form my mind. I couldn't tell my Mother either. That was the darkest hour of my life. The next morning,my Mother came to my room. She started patting my shoulders passionately that I started wondering what the problem was. Then she said.

"Ella and Aria were found dead yesterday in an abandoned building near the party." She said.
