The Christmas Gifts

Roshni and Hridoy were happy couple. They lived in a small town of Madhya Pradesh. Hridoy always had a dream to live a lavish life. He worked as a part timer in a small restaurant and also in a cafe. Roshni was proud of her husband's dedication and she always believed that his dream of having a lavish life would be fulfilled. .

Everything was alright. . Until the arrival of Hridoy's mother, Mrs Bhagawati Singh. . . It was a Saturday afternoon when Bhagwati shown up in the gates of Hridoy's house with her luggage. . . Being an obedient daughter-in-law ,Roshni served her mother in law with full dedication and Roshni was very happy to serve her. . But Mrs. Singh wasn't happy, as she always wanted a grandson. She always blamed Roshni for not being able to give her a grandson. . She was mistreated her for infertility and also used abusive words . . Roshni never replied back but cried alot remembering the words of doctor. . . .  

5 days before Mrs. Singh arrival,

It was around 9am, after Hridoy left for his job Roshni decided to visit a gynaecologist . . . Mr. Aditya Raj was a reputed doctor and a specialist.

Roshni: Sir. . . I am here today as I have some problem. . .

Doctor: Yes tell me.

Roshni: Its been 5yrs of marriage, still I m not able to conceive

Doctor: Dont worry Roshni. You will be alright.

   (After checkup)

Doctor : Roshni your reports are out.

Roshni: yes doctor. . is everything okay??

Doctor: sorry Roshni, but you are diagnosed with cancer.

(Roshni felt as it her whole dream of having a child is shattered and starts crying)

Later that same evening,

 Roshni decides to reveal the truth to Hridoy, having a fear inside her heart that he would leave her forever. . But she gathered a lot a strength to confess everything.

(Hridoy returns from work)

Hridoy: Dear!! M very tried will you please prepare something for me, m really famished. I will have a bath till then

Roshni: Sure!!!

 (After having the food, Hridoy noticed Roshni silence)

Hridoy: How can my cheerful wife turn so mute and depressed today. . is everything alright?

Roshni: (Starts crying) She confess him the truth

Hridoy:(silent). . . . . ( breaking the silence) Its okay Roshni I never wanted a child. . all that I want is you to be happy. .  

Roshni: I want a child. . (still crying)

Hridoy: Its okay dear we will survive in this struggle.

Back to present day.,

Bahu!!! Bahu!!! are you deaf . . . go and prepare for the dinner. . . . . . . . says, Mrs singh 

 Roshni walks silently. to the kitchen. .

At the dinner table,

 Mrs Singh : Why do you love this woman? It's been 5 years of your marriage. . and she is still unable to bear a child. . she is a disgrace to our family and reputation.

 Hridoy: I dont want a child. .

Mrs Singh: Look son. . me and your father want a little one; our grandson. . . who would play with us and call us his grandparents. . Please listen to me and get your second marriage done. .

Hridoy fummed with anger leaves the dinning table

It was 10 days before the Christmas,

Roshni consulted Mr Aditya. He checked up Roshni and told her that she has very little time left in her hand to leave the world.

Roshni goes back home and sells all her jewellery,She gets a huge amount of money . She than goes to a property dealer and buys a beautiful house for Hridoy as a Christmas gift. .

 Roshni to herself: This is what my Hridoy always dreamt . . . finally he will meet his dream.

On the Christmas day,

Hridoy reached home early that afternoon. 

Roshni Roshni!!!! look who's here . . it is what you always wanted. .  

Hridoy searched for Roshni all over but couldn't find her . But all that he received was a letter(written about her deteriorating health) and the property papers (Roshni's gift). .  

 After reading the letter ;  

Hridoy brust into tears and reached the hospital where she was in her last breath.  

Hridoy:Dear!! see what have I got you, your Christmas present. . Its twins (boy and girl) that you always longed for. . I have adopted them for you. . you can't leave me dear. . we four still have to live a happy life. .  

  (Roshni leaves the world forever)

 

Hridoy breaks down. . .

 

6 years passed,

(seeing the big portrait of Roshni hung in his bedroom)

It's been 6 years since you have left me but there is no single day when I haven't missed you. . . Although now I am living in the house that you have gifted me; the lavish life that you have gifted me there is something missing in this house . . It's you my lovely wife; I miss you, your voice, it's you that this house needs. . It's you Divya and Ryan needs the most, they need you... . . (weeping)
