It was an average winter morning in Rampur. The melodious music of the birds, the children feeding the cows in the stable, women’s chit-chatting and filling up their buckets from the well and hand pump, the head of the house going to the office, the small kids running behind the cycle of their fathers, some studios one going to school. Rampur is an appreciable and respectable village. There was a big banyan tree where panchayat used to sit but casually all the old men of Rampur used to sit in the morning. I was 8 years old and today I was not feeling good so I decided to skip school and to sit with my grandpa with his friends, his friends used to give me chocolates and hundreds of stories.

It’s around 8 am in the morning the whole village is covered with fog and me and grandpa was walking towards the banyan tree. After we sat under the tree Hari kaka the milkman came and he stopped his motorcycle and took out his can and the heavenly aroma of the fresh milk was attracting me, when he walked his big balloon-like stomach moves as if water is filled in a balloon, he was fashionable he wore a white cowboy hat, and a white dhoti and a black coat under it a white shirt and a black plastic shoes. He is the richest man of Rampur and a hardworking man. After providing milk to the villagers he sat in front of my grandpa. ‘How are you Hari?’ my grandpa asked ‘ Yeah, I am ok' Hari kaka gave a half-smile.

Both of them entered their own world, Hari kaka eagerly asked ‘Chacha Ji, do you know the meaning of life' Grandpa started thinking deeply and after few seconds he replied with a big smile ‘Life is Beautiful' and Hari kaka smiled back, ‘Would you like to have some veggies, I have carrot, brinjal, potatoes and many more. She was Nisha kaki the vegetable seller, but unlike other days she looked different today her saree was half torn and her hair was untidy she looked sad and worried, after seeing her my grandpa and Hari kaka offered her to sit, Hari kaka helped her putting down her vegetable basket and I ran to my house and bought a glass of water to her, she took the glass and started swallowing the water she was very thirsty after drinking she sat on the ground and took some breath and grandpa patted me on the back and this made my day. ‘What happened Nisha?’ Hari kaka asked and Nisha kaki started sobbing ‘Nisha.. what happened to tell your father?’ Grandpa politely asked ‘My….. my husband.. kicked.. me and my. children…out of the house' she again started crying and holding her head with her bad luck. Grandpa stopped her by doing this, all three of us went in silence and in shock, ‘But why he did this' Hari kaka asked in curiosity ‘He didn’t have enough money and he can’t feed me and my children anymore and this is the only reason why he pushed me out of the house' Nisha kaki replied with a clear voice, once again complete silence. Hari kaka stood and strictly said ‘I will give you and your children shelter’ ‘No… no please I don’t need any shelter I need only money, I want to feed my children and to educate them, I will then leave this village’ Nisha kaki joined her hands in front of Hari kaka and grandpa felt very bad so he went in the house and brought one bundle of money. ‘Here, take this it’s 20,000 bucks and goes educate your children but before that, I want to meet your husband’ Grandpa emotionally gave her but before handing her the money Hari kaka pulled his hand towards him and took him to the corner and they were whispering something while that time I was staring at Nisha kaki she looked better than before, the hope of good luck was reflecting on her face. After a serious discussion they came and Grandpa handed her the money and she went down on her knees and touched his feet and once again joined her hands and in return, my Grandpa smiled and blessed her and said ‘Educate your children and give them a good life.

She smiled and took her vegetable basket and went back.

‘Wow, I feel so good after helping a needy woman' Grandpa was very proud. ‘Ok, Chacha Ji I should go now I have some work to do. Hari kaka assembled his empty milk can and started the engine of motorcycle buy the inspector of Rampur and two female constables entered and they stopped Hari kaka and the two female constables started knocking on doors and the inspector was standing so my Grandpa went and asked ‘Sir, what happened is everything fine?’ grandpa patted on inspectors shoulder he turned back and said ‘We are searching for a lady vegetable seller, she tried to kill her children and her husband, we are looking for her now' the inspector took out the photo and when he took out the photo all three of us were astonished because it was Nisha kaki, my Grandpa got shocked and he got unbalanced and sat down on the ground, this made Hari kaka shocked, ‘Inspector we know that Lady she turned left from the hand pump. 'I have been looted by a woman, Oh God!’ Grandpa cried ‘It’s ok Chacha Ji, this is what life is, you never know who comes and cheat you. One should never think emotionally' Hari kaka was sympathizing with him, ‘Seriously, Life is beautiful but at the same time it’s adventurous' Grandpa smiled.
