A white flash illuminates the stormy sky, right before rattling and banging rocked the restless atmosphere.

The rain would come and go as the thick clouds spread across the night sky that would usually be filled with glowing stars.

A strong thunderstorm will hit later on in the night. We would get thunderstorms frequently, but this one will be the big deal.

Flash after flash, bang after bang, rattle after rattle, the thunderstorm makes it's way across my small town surrounded by a vast, thick forest.

Not long passed before the sky decided to give us a break. The thunder quietened as the downpour retreated back into the clouds.

A sudden zap of pain from my sore elbows and knees reminded me that I was kneeling by my windowpane, looking up at the ominous clouds slowly passing us.

Just when I thought that was it, that the worst is over, that it is over for tonight, a flash caught my eye. A new storm cloud is approaching. Seconds was all it took for the loud rumble to shred the peaceful silence into pieces.

I continue looking at the lightning show, I notice how the lightning is brighter and the rumbles are louder. Soon, the street lights illuminate the clouds, making them look even more ominous than the ones that just past us.

This is it, the big one, I could sense it.

I feel fear spread through my body as my eyes can't get off the storm that is approaching us. Minutes is all it will take before this monster engulfs us and makes us pay for what we all did.

The wind is beginning to pick up as the clouds drag their way above us. Thunder and lightning continue to disturb the peaceful night, right before... Rain.

The peaceful silence was to be replaced by the soothing sound of the heavy rain mixed in with the harsh thunder. The sound of the downpour and the rumbles went through every hallway and room in my house.

Minutes pass before the sides of the road outside my home become miniature rivers, carrying pebbles and leaves to the drains. The more the rain fell, the bigger the rivers by the sides of the road became, the faster they flowed towards the nearest drain.

It is not long before the wind begins blowing again, sending thick curtains of rain down from the clouds.

An hour passes, then two and then three. It is midnight and the rain hasn't stopped falling. The clouds seem like they have stopped right above us.

The streets are now flooded. A huge river flowing over where the road was seen only a few hours ago.

As the rain continues falling, the river seems to only be getting bigger and stronger. By now, I'd assume the nearby river broke its bank.

The rain keeps on falling...

Midnight ticks to one, then two and at three is when the rain finally stops.

The water must be at least half a meter tall, most of the houses are flooded, including mine. Only people on higher land are in luck.

The clouds make their way across the glittered sky, soon to be gone out of sight. All that is now left is the huge river flowing through my town, wreaking havoc and soon to be threatening even more lives.

This is what climate change does.

This is nature's revenge.
