Riots A Blot On Society
Riots A Blot On Society
Riots occur when crowds or even small groups of people gather o commit acts of violence and property damage, usually in reaction to perceived grievances or out of dissent. Historically, riots have occurred due to poor working or living conditions, government oppression, taxation or conscription, conflicts between races or religions, or even the outcome of a sporting event. Some claim that rioters are motivated by rejection or frustration with legal channels. The acts causing riots are actions through which they air their grievances.
Riots typically involve vandalism and the destruction of private and public and public property. The specific property to be targeted varies depending on the cause of the riot and the inclinations of those involved. Targeted can include shops, cars, restaurants, state-owned institutions, and religious buildings.
Riots are typically dealt with by the police. The actions of police during the riots are called as riot control methods. Although methods differ from country to country, the police authorities are the ones who deal with the riots on the onset of them. It is only if the riots are uncontrollable, the government has to call the military. Tactics and weapons used to control riots can include attack dogs, water cannons, plastic bullets, rubber bullets, pepper spray, and flexible baton rounds.
Though now the time is changing and the outlook of people is widening, still, there are places where people have the time and energy to indulge in riots. But the good thing is that at least in places like Mumbai, people openly say that life is so fast and tuff that they cannot afford the luxury riots. Whatever the situation may be people come back to normal life in a considerably short time.
