PERFECT PARTNERS

It was the time of summer vacation!!! This time Teena’s parents had planned something special for her. They had decided that she will be spending her holidays with her grandmother who lived alone in another city. When they told this to Teena, she was shocked and thought it's going to be the most boring vacation ever. But her parents promised that it will be an exciting one and she should give it a try. Since Teena was a very obedient girl, she agreed and so her parents sent her off to her grandmom’s city.

 

“Hey Teenu, you look dull?” said granny as soon as she saw Teena. “There is no one of my age to play with here. What am I going to do?” replied Teena. “I’ve planned tons of fun for you!” giggled granny. “What rubbish have you planned, tuitions or meditation classes?” screamed Teena furiously. “No dumbo, we will have a lot of fun, silly. Now go and wear your swimming costume I have gifted you. I will teach you how to swim,” explained gran. She quickly wore it, and both went to a swimming pool curiously. “But I don’t know how to swim,” said Teena frightened.

With a sly smile, granny pushed her. When she landed in the water, there was a lot of water in her mouth. Granny soon taught her to swim, and both played and enjoyed a lot. After returning back Teena taught gran to blow a whistle. Granny said “Teenu, you taught me to blow a whistle while I taught you to swim. Let’s share something more.” “Sure. I will install some apps on your smartphone,” smiled Teena downloading apps. They had fun and fun. “There is a lot of wind out there. I will help you to fly a kite. Come on we must go outside as it is the best time to fly this kite,” gran said with a dimpled smile. So, they went out and within two minutes she learnt to do that. After that gran showed all the spices, vegetables and their names and also showed how to cook and play cards. Teena, giving importance told that “I learnt a lot from you, now let me teach you a European game.” Gran cheerfully blew a whistle as she had learnt from Teena. Teena gracefully danced for her and taught her a European game. Granny too learned a few dance moves from Teena. Like this every day both taught each other something or the other. Gran lived her childhood once again and Teena enjoyed her time thoroughly.

 

After a few days, her parents spoke to her by a phone call. They said that they have booked her ticket back home. Teena frowned, “But why mum, the holidays are not yet over. I want to enjoy more here, can’t you cancel the ticket?” Mum said “Sweety, I had told you that you’ll enjoy. We can’t cancel the ticket but you can get gran here too. We’ll book another ticket for her. We too are missing her.” Teena shrieked with delight and ran to give gran the news and next day beautifully Teena and gran went home. Certainly, it was the most memorable vacation ever. The bond between Teena and granny grew stronger than ever. Both decided to spend time together in the coming vacations as well.
