Online shopping

Rachna a young lady turned her bad online shopping experience to a good one with her sheer presence of mind. It is a true incident that gives us inputs about how to be careful while shopping online.                              

  Rachna was feeling happy as she had received her pay as well as the bonus that was due to her. She was working at a well known MNC that offered perks that was a good addition to the salary. She was an extremely hard working and dedicated professional. With the salary in her bag her plans for the month ahead were many. She had looked forward for this pay as she had invested her other pay amounts in stocks and shares. They too had given her good returns this time. She wanted to make many purchases for herself, her parents and brother too as there was an impending wedding of her cousin brother in the coming month. The marriage was to be a gala event. So, the clothes and other accessories had to be in tow.

Her parents were not too keen about shopping but Rachna insisted she would buy for them as they had celebrated their 31st marriage anniversary that month. It was celebration time indeed. As all of us are aware the Pandemic had affected our life style to a great extent, but here we are talking about shopping only. Yes, you guessed it right it is about the popular Online shopping we are talking. People prefer Online shopping like never before. It offers buying almost everything. Whether food, medicines, appliances, accessories and above all clothes of all varieties and prices. The offers were too attractive to be ignored. Like most of us who buy Online Rachna chose the Most popular Brand 'M' and ordered two Kurtis for herself and another one for her mother too.

Of course they would be purchasing more expensive clothes in a near by show room after another week as they had to buy expensive sarees and matching blouse pieces too and had to get it stitched at the tailor associated with the show room. The Kurtis she ordered looked so good and the price seemed the best. The dates of delivery of these Kurtis was also suitable to Rachna. She paid the amount Online(!!) and even got rewards for the same. I mean scratch cards etc. Too good to resist. With this process complete they started planning for the other purchases. i don't mean they were bothered only about this but the discussion point definitely was shopping why not shopping and women are symbolic isn't it?          

After two days Rachna got a message in the morning that the first order would be delivered that day

(two days before the date mentioned during the order) and the delivery agent was vaccinated and his body temperature was checked etc. If any doubt she could contact the delivery agent and his number was mentioned along with the message. Everything was fine and the product was delivered without any hassle and her mother liked the kurti Rachna had ordered .    Rachna's order would be delivered after about three days as per the schedule during order. But, the day after she gets a message that her Kurtis would be delivered and again the same old message about the delivery agent etc. etc. Being a Sunday Rachna had planned to visit her grand mom along with her parents as she had been ill for sometime. She immediately contacted the delivery agent on the phone number mentioned in the message, the agent politely asked if he could leave the ordered items in the shoe rack(oh no), or any neighbour and so on.

Being a Sunday Rachna did not want to disturb anyone so she asks him to come the next day with the ordered product. The agent agrees to it and so that was it. After an hour or so when Rachna was enroute to her grand mom's place she gets a message on her phone that the order had been delivered and the shopping site even asked to share the experience which is a regular feature you see. Rachna was surprised looking at the message and she called the delivery agent on his mobile. The agent politely says your product is with me mam I'll deliver it to you tomorrow as asked by you. He even asks Rachna whether she would pay cash on delivery to which Rachna confirms she had already paid it online. The delivery agent assures her that the message about product being delivered was a formality and the kurti was with him which he would bring the next day to her address.  Since Rachna was busy with her relatives she ignored this conversation.                         

 The next morning the delivery agent did not turn nor he came in the afternoon. Rachna understood something was wrong . She tried calling the agents number that gave a recorded message that the said number was not valid. She tried many times and started to have a doubt if she was cheated . She immediately opened the Online shopping site and went to the column ' contact us' she mailed the on the site the whole matter . She got a call back from one of the executive from the said Online shopping site who enquired about the whole matter. When Rachna narrated what had happened the executive informed that they would follow up the matter and get back after a couple of days. Rachna was not satisfied with the message from the executive and after she hung up the phone she went into a deep thought. She was not that much bothered about not getting the Kurtis, nor the price of the same, but it was the feeling of getting cheated that she could not bear. When she kept thinking suddenly an idea flashed across her mind.

She felt this would get back her product without much hassle and the agent who wanted to cheat her would learn a lesson or two. She again sent a mail on the Online site of the Brand , 'M' saying that she was not bothered about the money that she may lose or the kurti but the cheating that was not tolerable. She even reminded that she had been a very loyal customer and if they check her orders they will understand the same. She even wrote that she was mostly recommending their products to many among her social circle as she had a very wide circle of acquaintance . She knew that the last line of her mail would do all magic and the delivery agent will come running with the product the next day early in the morning.

She wrote in the mail that there was a recording facility in her phone that is active and it automatically records every call on her phone. From the tone of the executive she understood her work would be done at the earliest and that is what happened . The next day early in the morning her door bell rings and she finds the delivery agent with the parcel. Yes, those were the Kurtis she had ordered. She even received a thank you message from the Online portal of the Online she site 'M' appreciating her choice, follow up, patience and all adjectives praising her or the customer that was Rachna. This is how she managed the whole matter with a simple trick and a good presence of mind. All is fair in love and war Right. !!!!
