Oh So Lonely

Some people are lonely even in the crowd, others are occupied even while meditating in the heights of Himalayas. A person with a goal is never lonely. "Oh So Lonely", is often used by a defeatist mindset.

Nambi was a farmer. He had 12 acres of land near Udupi. He maintained it well and was associated with it. Years passed his children studied and moved to Bangalore city. There was no next generation to take care of his farm.

His son Darshan was a software engineer. He was too busy at work that he had little time for his family. Nambi went to stay with him for a few days. Nambi found that time is not moving at all. The entire life in the city is mechanical. No one has the time for anything. His son came back home sat on the computer till late at night. He left to office in the early morning to escape traffic. There were a lot of people around but still, the people in the city were so lonely.

He left back to his village.

Darshan was worried, his father is in the '80s and still staying alone in that farmhouse. One day he took a break from his busy schedule and visited his father. He asked, "Oh father, don't you feel lonely here? Our entire family is in the city and you stay alone here."

Nambi smiled, "Who said I am alone? The morning birds wake me up. I go on around my farm, it takes about two hours. I observe every tree. These are a part of me, ever since I was born. There is a memory of your mother in this house. I still feel her aroma around. I share a meal with the workers on the farm. Not only the food but the happiness and sorrows are shared, we have now become a family. The villagers greet me every time they meet and more importantly I spend some time talking to myself. I have a goal to spend the last days of my life here happily, I cannot be lonely".

Darshan asked, " But that you can get in the city too? We all are there you won't be so lonely".

Nambi smiled and said, "When is the last time you spoke to yourself?".

Darshan started thinking.

Nambi got up to go to his farm. "See you already have the answer".
