He examined himself in the full-length mirror, the was impressed. The designer had indeed done a great job, he looked stunning. And why wouldn't he, it was his wedding, after all, he had to look good.

As the ceremony commenced, he cast a sideward glance at his bride. Radiant and beautiful, she returned his gaze and behind her stood their parents, all painting a perfect family picture.

His parents seemed more relieved than happy, he had been absolutely against arranged marriages and in fact, he refused to believe in the institution called marriage. But he had relented eventually, or so they thought...

He looked around and finally spotted his ex, at one end of the hall, welcoming the guests, greeting the oldies and chatting up some young, smart men. He turned green with envy, the other men in question were pretty good looking. As if reading his thoughts, his ex suddenly looked behind and smirked at his blatant staring. He reciprocated with a smile.

They gazed at each other from the distance, his heart thumped hard.

"My love," he heard his mind speak "I'm sorry, it couldn't be you on my side right now. You know how it is, our parents would have gone crazy, worse still, mine could have harmed you. Try as much as we may, our society couldn't have accepted us, plus my career and reputation would have been at stake if we went public.

We are the star crossed lovers, like the Sun and the Moon, who loved each other but never united.

But I won't let it be so bad to love, we'll meet, often. Being my wife's brother has its own advantages, we'll be connected all the time, arousing no suspicions whatsoever. I am glad you played along with my plan and don't worry. I'll keep your sister happy. Love demands sacrifices and I'm glad you sacrificed your sister. We are family now, joined together forever..."

He secretly blew a kiss and his brother-in-law winked mischievously.
