My first period
My first period
I faced very painful situations in my childhood. I was born and brought up in a village where they give more importance to superstitions than humans. At the age of 9, one by one, girls in my villageare going through their first period. I was born into a middle-class family where my father and mother are daily wage workers. And I am an average student with no hopes for my studies. So I was a normal, poor girl child.
But I always find happiness in small things, and I always try to stay positive. I always find positivity in negative situations, too.
As my days are going so smooth with a curve on my face. I still remember those days when my life was slowly changing.
I was in ninth grade in those days, and most of the girls in my class had their first period.
The neighbours begin to ask my mom about my mensuration. They talked very badly about my gender. When I came to the 10th grade, the whole village turned to me. Everyone, irrespective of their gender, has doubts in their faces about my mensuration. All of them made suggestions in such a way that I should consult the doctor for the determination of gender.
They all started rumours that I am not a girl and maybe transgender.
They slowly stopped talking to my whole family, and they wouldn't allow their child to speak with me. They warned their children not to make friends at any cost.
This put me and my whole family into depression. We have many sleepless nights because of this. Day by day, my smile turns into tears in my eyes. We consulted a doctor, but she suggested some medical tests, which are very expensive for my family. By seeing those medical test expenses, my family turns helpless.
But with a ray of hope, they decided to save money for tests.
After working hard for months and saving a lot of money, we went for a checkup.
By God's grace, she said that I have a hormone imbalance and a deficiency of nutrition in food. She gave them the medicines and told them not to worry about this issue.
Days passed by God's grace or the doctor's grace I got my first period during my intermediate first year. We were very happy at that time, and it proved that I too was a girl.
During my childhood, because of that incident, I came to know how hard a girl's life is.
Many years have passed. but the pain and struggle I have taken from my childhood are like a nightmare in my life.
