Chapter 8

Rajat packed his things and walked out. Rahul ran behind him “Rajat I need just 5 mins to talk to you, please. if you decide to go even after that, I am not gonna stop you”. Rajat stopped walking and turned around to look at his friend. He went back into the room and sat on the couch. “What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?” asked Rajat rudely. Rahul said “You will be flying back to Sydney in couple of days, if you vacate now where will you stay? Look…. I will talk to Shilpa and tell them to vacate, okay?” Rajat did not reply but Rahul knew what his silence meant. He left the room and dialed Shilpa number and hurriedly said “you guys need to vacate, ASAP!!”. “Wha- why? What's happening Rahul” Shilpa questioned in a hushed tone as stepped out of the room she shared with Janvi. “Listen, don't tell Janvi anything… let’s try and get this situation under control. Just make something up and take Janvi away from here” he said breathlessly. “I don't understand a single thing you just said Rahul!! ughh god! Whatever!! I will take her away… but I need an explanation later! yelled Shilpa. 

Shilpa stood outside the room staring at the door thought for a while. She took a deep breath and  walked into the room. “Janu, uhh- I just got a call from work, there’s been an escalation and I am answerable for that, so they’ve kinda asked me to join back, I have to vacate… like now. So ummm.. do you want to come with me or are you going to stay here until Rajat leaves?”. “I stayed because you were there with me… what am I gonna do alone. I'm coming with you” replied Janvi with a smile and started packing. Once they were done Shilpa called Rahul. He came to their room, Rahul said “Shilpa you leave I will make the payment” and shilpa nodded in agreement. Janvi looked at the two of them and said “you guys keep talking I will go say good bye to Rajat”. “Janvi no!! wait!!!” screamed Shilpa. “He uhhhhhh- is busy, please just- wait here” requested Rahul.” “ I am just going to say good bye! I won’t take much of his time” replied Janvi and walked into Rajat's room.

“Hey Rajat I am vacating now, have a safe journey...” Rajat was staring at Janvi, disgust and anguish clearly visible in his eyes “and yeah don't forget to talk to a lawyer and check on the procedure for our divorce…” she continued. “Why do you need a divorce? To spoil another guy's life?” he glowered at her. Janvi was taken aback wondered what is he talking about... Rajat continued “what kind of a woman are you? Tell me….what's your plan now? Why did you marry me? What do you need from me You b*ch?. “MIND YOUR TONGUE!!” Janvi bounced back. “Rahul!!” screamed Rajat “you throw this b*ch out this second or I will!”. Janvi pushed him by his shoulder and yelled. “How dare you call me that!!”. Things got a little fuzzy for a moment, She felt her cheek get hot and slowly start to burn. Janvi could faintly hear commotion around her. She came to her senses, and realized that Rajat had slapped her. Janvi was in shock. Shilpa came running to her. “Rahul what the hell is all this!! How dare you! Shilpa wailed throwing daggers at Rajat with her eyes. “Shilpa, please take Janvi away from here, I- I will meet you both outside”. Janvi sat down on the bed "I am not taking a step out of this room until I get an explanation and an apology" Shilpa too sat down with Janvi “Yes Rajat has to apologize for this…. what disgusting behaviour.” Rajat kicked the foot of the bed and grunted out loud in frustration. Rahul grabbed Rajat by his arms and dragged him out of the room. Rajat pushed his hand away. Rahul said “Please listen to me… stay here… I will send them right away” and literally pushed Rajat into the other room. 

Janvi and Shilpa were quietly sitting there staring at Rahul... “Shilpa please take Janvi from here, I will meet you guys later in the evening”. “No Rahul, you just cant keep sending people away. what he did was not right. how can he slap Janu? and without any reason? Has he gone mad or something? I will not take Janu from here. What bothers him if Janu has Wilson photo in her mobile?” Janvi looked up at Shilpa, staggered. “what is this about Wilson's photo?” She questioned with surprise. “Rajat has seen Wilson's photo in your phone and kept asking who he is to you and Why you have his photo?” answered Shilpa... “why? How does he know my Wils?” asked Janu looking at Rahul. Rahul decided to stay silent. “You have to tell me, after everything that just happened” demanded Janvi. Rahul started talking….. told Janvi about how Rajat knew Wilson. Tears rolled down Janvi's cheeks. “Where is he now?” she asked. “He is in the other room” replied Rahul. She got up and sprinted out of the room to see Rajat. “No!!he is too angry…don't!” protested Rahul, “I wanna meet him” Janvi said as she ran out to the other room. She saw Rajat sitting on the sofa, leaning back with his closed eyes and hands on his head. Janvi ran to Rajat and she knelt down in front of him, her hands on his knee. He opened his eyes and met hers, and all she could see was anger. Janvi took Rajat's hands in hers and said “these were the hands my wils….” in seconds her head hit the wall, she saw Rajat standing above her yelling “You murderer!!” as she lost her consciousness.
