In William Shakespeare's epic play or drama "Julius Ceasar ", there is a revolt or mutiny against the mighty Roman emperor namely Julius Ceasar, wherein Brutus who is a close aide & friend of Ceasar, stabs the latter in the back. Julius Ceasar looks around and exclaims "You too, Brutus"!

Subsequently, Brutus defends his action by saying "Not that I loved Ceasar less but that I loved Rome more". According to him his love for Rome provoked him to act brutally against Ceasar.

Don't you think that this is the most infamous diplomatic explanation that an ambitious politician or lawmaker can offer after committing a heinous crime? All political crimes are committed in the guise or pretence of doing good to the country!

In fact, this is the scenario prevailing now in India and more so in the state of Maharashtra, where backstabbing has become the order of the day. Politics in Maharashtra has become so murkier that everybody seems to be backstabbing everyone to the extent that not a single "Lotus" can be seen or found in the muddy pool of politics. In short nobody in politics is untouched by corruption!

Do you all know that the word "Brute" has really come from Brutus, after his infamous act, and is synonymous with sheer force, arrogance, deceit, aggression, cruelty etc? When you say "You brute" to someone, it is akin or similar to Ceasar saying "You too Brutus" in Shakespeare's drama which has now become symbolic of calling a person backstabber or traitor especially when he happens to be your friend and a trusted lieutenant.
