Ram Murthy had always heard negative things about Iyer. He knew very little about him as Iyer mostly took care of Digambar and handled household tasks, rarely being seen in the army camp. Ram Murthy was curious about how Iyer had managed to join the army, as his physical standards didn't seem to match, and he doubted Iyer's mental fitness as well.

Ram Murthy couldn't hold his curiosity any longer and decided to ask Iyer directly.

Ram Murthy: "Iyer, how did you get into the army?"

Iyer slowly lifted his head, revealing a nasty smile.

Iyer: "By influence, sir."

Ram Murthy was taken aback by the response.

Ram Murthy: "Come on, Iyer. Influence works in other government jobs, not in the army. In the army, only performance matters."

Iyer: I was born into one of the most esteemed Iyer Brahmin families in the Ooty district of Tamil Nadu. My father, Kartika Iyer, was a government engineer, while my mother, Sulakshana Iyer, was a dedicated practicing doctor.

My father, a remarkably handsome man standing nearly 6 feet tall, possessed a fair complexion and a well-built, muscular physique. As for my mother, true to her name Sulakshana, she exuded charm and beauty. When the couple strolled through the streets of Ooty, people couldn't help but gaze at them, considering them one of the most captivating and attractive couples they had ever encountered.

I also had an sister who was six years elder then me. She bore a striking resemblance to my mother, if not surpassing her in beauty.

When my mother became pregnant for the second time, my father was delighted. He fervently desired a male child this time around. Recognizing certain symptoms during pregnancy, my mother, being a doctor herself, predicted to my father that it could indeed be a boy this time. Overjoyed, my father began distributing sweets to his friends and family in celebration. Finally, the day arrived when I was born. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the darkest days in my parents lives.
