It was the month of June when the hot sun is right up the head sucking the last drop of fluid left in my cells. My neighbor's sister went in labor. She was a primigravida, expecting her first child. She was at term and regularly visited the antenatal clinic in her small city of West Bengal. Throughout her antenatal checkup they all said the progress and growth is good. And the moment she entered labor she was informed that the amniotic fluid, i.e the fluid in which the baby is floating, is less and baby is small. Considering all these serious conditions she was advised for an emergency cesarean section.

Her husband was a border security force personnel far away on post. And she was all alone with her parents here. At this moment all their minds were out. On top of this, condition of her unborn child being in danger sucked every blood from their body. No one knew what to do and how to manage this situation. Finally they called her sister who was about forty five kilometers away. She advised her to come to her place. There they had much better hospital facilities and good doctors.

They called my mother to help them with the admission procedures and doctor referrals in the general hospital of the city. My mother was a retired staff of the hospital. So my mother went with them to help them get the procedures done smoothly.

The afternoon was scorching till now. But the moment my mother left with them, the weather drastically changed. Out of nowhere the dark clouds overshadowed the blazing sun and the hot air was replaced by cool breeze followed by stormy and thundery weather.

I was alone in house. And the weather was appealing to dance. A sweet music of Jubin Nautyal, 'Mor jiya mai kay there bin mor jiya tu mera pal chin...jiya re....' drenched my soul with melody that wished to express its happiness and ran out under the darkened horizon above.

I felt the freeness in my spirit and spread my arms to embrace the first rain of the monsoon. The petrichor allured my soul even more to become a child and enjoy the monsoon. As the cool drops of the rain kissed my cheeks and arms, every element of my body cooed the merriment of cooling weather that soothed the soul. Above all, the joy of love that bloomed in hear was blessed by the rains that slowly intensified and drenched me whole. And I submitted myself completely in the hands of the pour that loved to lash every drop on me as if I uniting with my soulmate for the first time.

I felt blessed to touch the nature with bare hands and enclasped every feel it gave me as I labored to know her more intimately. Glorious feel it was as I stood drenched but fully satisfied by every nuzzle it gave me, making me feel even more confident and optimistic towards life which had been bleak for a time in the past.

Every drop of rain that touched me instilled a new hope in me to dream again despite what is crushed because nothing will end until I give up. And my broken soul suddenly found a lifeline in those tearing clouds which said, 'I came down only to become your smile and a life for you soul on this Earth.'

In the late night my mother returned that my neighbor's sister was blessed with a healthy baby boy, 2.5 kilograms through normal delivery. Magnificent was this news which cheers all our souls.
