Deeper than Emotions (Part-1)

Halsey Salkin, a 13-year-old school girl lives in Dallas, Texas in the United States; with her parents and her elder sister Julie. She is an introvert and has very few friends at school. She is a topper and a brilliant student. She is a kind girl and helps everyone in need. Her nature is sweet and caring and that makes her unique from others. But does Halsey think like that about herself ?? Well, let's seek the answer to this question by witnessing a glimpse of her life. 

On a normal summer afternoon, Halsey was returning back from school. Her face was pale and it looked like she was upset about something. But don't be surprised, because she is always like that; Emotionless and unhappy. She thought her life was no fun and hence it was normal for her to be like that. But what surprised her, was that, when she entered her home, she saw the house was empty and her mother was packing all the stuff. Unsure about what was happening in her home, she said;

Halsey - "Mom !! What's happening in here? Why are you packing all our stuff? Are we going somewhere ??" 

Her mom - "Oh, Halsey; you are back home! Well great; I forgot to tell you that your father got transferred to Los Angeles permanently and we all are going to live there soon. Isn't it a great thing ?" 

Halsey - "Definitely not Mom. We have been living here for ages and I have spent my whole childhood here; now you are suddenly telling me that, we are going to get settled in LA. This can't happen. I know everyone here and it just feels like I belong here. Just tell Dad to cancel all this. I don't want to go." 

Her mom - "Halsey, my child; it's new there for all of us. But we all have to adjust there for your dad, right? Now don't tell me you forgot what your dad told to us. He had always wanted to get settled in LA and finally, he is getting the opportunity. I know that, if you say to your father, then he won't deny you but just for your happiness, do you want your dad to kill his dreams ?? 

Halsey - "Yeah I remember it clearly Mom and I don't want Dad to sacrifice for us. But what about our house and most importantly, what about my school and sister's college ?? We can't leave it halfway, right? 

Her mom - "Ah...Don't worry about that. We will enroll you in a new school and Julie in a new college. And, about this house, we are going to sell it. You don't have to get tensed about anything, my child. I know it's going to be a new experience there but life needs to change, right; so just don't get sad and start packing your stuff. You know, our flight is tomorrow morning, and your dad will be here anytime soon. So just do your packing as fast as you can. I also have lots of work." 

Halsey - "What !! We are going tomorrow. No way, this is too early Mom. I thought we would be going in a couple of days but instead, we are going tomorrow. No Mom, can't we go 2-3 days later ?? You know, right, I have to get all my work finished at school and get my notebooks from teachers; most importantly I want to see my school and teachers for the last time." 

Her mom - "Halsey, we have to go tomorrow, as your father will join the office 2 days later. And the date can't be changed. Also, don't worry about that; our flight is at 10 am, so we have to reach the airport at 8 am. We will be there at your school at 7:30 am and you can collect your notebooks and all, and you can meet your friends and teachers. Now, is that okay ?" 

Halsey - "Yeah it's fine. I will get freshen up and start packing my stuff." 

Her mom - "Okay, great. When I will call you for dinner, you come downstairs." 

Halsey - "Yeah Mom." 

With that, Halsey went upstairs to her room. She threw her bag on the bed and shouted in frustration. She was fed up of everything. 

Halsey to herself - "Why does this always happen to me ?? Mom told me just now, can't she tell me this thing earlier; I could have prepared myself mentally for this. I am not ready to move out from here. These all are just excuses but the real fact is that I am used to being in this environment and at least I have a few friends here, but in LA I don't know, if will I be able to make friends there, or I will be just alone at school; I just don't know how to process all this." 

Her mom calls Halsey (from downstairs) - "Halsey !! Come downstairs and have your dinner." 

Halsey just got out of her thoughts and replied - "Yeah Mom. I am coming." 

Then, Halsey just got freshened up and got changed into her sleepwear. She hurriedly went downstairs. Everyone was there at the dining table and Halsey took a seat beside her sister, Julie. 

Her dad - "Kids, you got to know everything, right; we are going to LA tomorrow." 

Julie - "Yeah Dad. We know about it." 

Her dad - "Okay then. Finish your food fast and complete your packing; then go to sleep. We have to get up early tomorrow." 

Halsey and Julie in unison replied - "Yeah Dad." 

Afterward, everyone finished their food and went to their rooms. With a heavy heart, Halsey was packing her stuff. She really didn't want to go but she had to; she had no other option. After some time, she was done packing and then she switched off the lights; and went to sleep, wishing herself all the best for tomorrow. 

The next morning, there was a huge chaos in her house. Halsey had woken up early and had already gotten dressed. As planned, she and her mom were going to her school. Her mom was already in the car and Halsey was hesitant to go but finally, she sat in the car; and they drove to her school. 

After reaching there, they went to the principal's office and had a talk with him. After that, her mom applied for T/C and was completing the official process. Halsey went around the hallway, the playground, the library, the science lab, and last but not least her own classroom. It was still empty with a few students inside because it was still very early in the morning and usually her school starts at 8:30 a.m. Halsey felt a surge of emotions inside her as she saw her school for the last time. She really did spend all her childhood here, from kindergarten to 7th standard. She had so many beautiful memories here. She will always have a very special place in her heart for her school. 

Afterward, they took their leave and drove to their home. All this time, Halsey was unhappy with everything going on in her life. But she can't help it. 

They reached their home and her dad put all their suitcases in the car. After locking all the rooms and handing the keys to their friend who bought the house, her parents got seated in the car. Julie and Halsey were already there in the car. All the way to the airport, Halsey again felt sad leaving Dallas and everything she had here. 

They reached the airport and went to check in their luggage. Their flight was on time. While their parents were busy handling all this. Halsey and Julie went to the airport shops to get neck pillows, magazines and books, some snacks, and some other stuff. They boarded the flight at 10 am and it was predicted that they would reach by 2 pm. They ordered some coffee and breakfast. After eating all of this, her father slept and her mom was watching the television, which was there in the airplane. While Julie was busy watching her mobile; Halsey was lost in her thoughts. She was thinking about her future and how life would be there in LA. Without even knowing, time passed in the blink of an eye and they reached LA. 

Everyone got off the airplane and her parents called a taxi. All of them sat in the taxi. But both Halsey and Julie were confused about where are they going. Out of curiosity, Julie asked her parents,

Julie - "Where are we going ??" 

Her mom - "We have already bought a house here. So we are just going there." 

Julie - "Oh !! That's great." 

Then again there was silence in the taxi. After some minutes, they reached their new house. Their new house was spacious and beautiful. Even for one minute, Halsey forgot her sadness by seeing the house. They put their suitcases upstairs and decided to rest after this long journey. Halsey didn't want to sleep but she had to as her dad instructed them to do so. She just lays on the bed and thinks about everything that's going on in her life. She didn't get to know when she slept while thinking all this. 

Her sleep was disturbed by her mother calling her downstairs. Halsey woke up and got freshened up, then she went downstairs. It was already 6 pm, so her mother called everyone to eat some snacks as everyone should be hungry by now. Halsey was also hungry a little bit, so she thought it was good that her mom called them for some snacks. While eating snacks her dad said to Halsey and Julie, 

Her dad - "Halsey, I have already got your admission to LA International School, and Julie, yours to LA Model International College. And yeah from tomorrow onwards, you both are going to your school and college respectively. So get ready for it." 

Halsey and Julie were surprised after hearing this. Julie said to her dad,

Julie - "Dad can't we go a little later ?? Like we literally came today and we have to go tomorrow, that's not fair." 

Halsey - "Yeah Dad. Sis is right, it's too early, right; we can go after some days." 

Her dad - "No girls; You both have to go tomorrow. You both shouldn't delay your studies. It would take some time to adjust there, so it's better you both join as fast as you can." 

Julie - "Okay Dad." 

Halsey still didn't respond but she just nodded her head in yes, even though she didn't want to go. Afterwards, everyone gathered to watch a movie but Halsey refused saying that she didn't feel good, so she just wanted to rest in her room. They agreed and Halsey went to her room. She just read a book and after that she felt a little bit sleepy, so she slept. After 2 hours she woke up and realized that it was 9 pm already. So she washed her face and changed into her nightwear. Halsey went downstairs and saw everyone setting up the house. She also helped them and afterward, all of them had their dinner, and went to their rooms. 

Halsey still was worried about going to her new school. She was getting negative thoughts that if someone bullies her there, then what will she do; if nobody wants to talk to her then what will happen; like this, she was getting many thoughts. But she had to go to her new school someday, so whatever happens, she has to face it. So, she can't decide what's going to happen in the future but she has hope that everything will be fine. Then, she wishes all the best to herself and drifts into her dreamland. 

What will happen in her new school? Will she make new friends? What's on hold for her in the future?
