Chapter 4- Charu And The Evil

He said that if the light was on by the time he walked by her house, he would come and tell her whatever he knew. She wondered that it would have taken ages for him to come round to the idea, but it looked things were about to come to an end. She was finally ready to talk about it. But it was when she let him enter her flat, she realized he wasn’t so certain about talking about what was in her mind. She hovered in the doorway, frozen in place by his sight. He seemed different than how she expected him to be. There was eerieness around him that bothered her. He walked cautiously as if he was haunted by some spirit.

Present:

Charu had received a call from Abyss two days back. Abyss was the person who had saved her the other day from the mysterious shadows that tried to attack her. He seemed like a localite and had helped her with some of the clues regarding the city mall. It was two days back that he said he knew the entire story. He further assured her that he would tell everything but in person at her place privately.

She confided in Abyss without any suspicion and immediately agreed to it. Charu was overwhelmed with thoughts on Yuvaan and everything that was so very mysterious. She regretted coming back to Kochi as she felt accountable and the feeling of guilt haunted her. She tried to decode the map that was there in the box left behind by Yuvaan but in vain. She waited for Abyss to come to her place.

The man who called himself “Evil” promised to avenge them all who were responsible for the murders of his race. Memories filled in, the way he and the other captors were dragged along in shackles like human cattle. The mid-day sun, high in the sky was blisteringly hot. Walking for days, along the unconsolidated sand of the deserts made them slump to their knees. Half of them were dead by the third day and the journey seemed endless. The wicked-looking men of the Etlean race gave them a snarl and ushered them back to their feet with a sharp prod.

He was left out alive near a dune, which had a huge sprawling metropolis and it shimmered as if it were a mirage. The captors had disappeared. It was then that he decided to destroy the etlean race.

Evil knew that this girl Charu was his bait to know the secret behind the wormhole. Though he had managed to get close to Vincent he didn’t know exactly about the wormhole and his research. All Evil knew was that the sword is the key to activate the signature radiations. He needed certain technical know-how to destroy the wormhole.

Evil knew that he had made few unwarranted murders and unsuccessful attempts to kill Charu. He changed his strategy to guide her until she manages to discover what he needed.

Vincent after overhearing the background conversation on Abraham’s call was now sure that it was Abyss who had deceived him. Vincent had his covert team shadow Abyss and he heard from them that Abyss was at Kochi. Vincent made arrangements to leave for Kochi by the very next flight.

Past:

When Charu opened the box with the bloodstained key, she heard an unfamiliar crackling from behind like the one from inside of a broken electronics. Soon she felt black and white shadows enshrouding her. The shadows choked her and she felt asphyxiating.

It was then a huge gigantic man with a hat came up. His clothes smelled singed and were damp at his ankles. He uttered something and the shadows disappeared. He introduced himself as Abyss to Charu.

Vincent was thinking about his technology that created people in dimensions. Humans evolving into animals and animals into combat-oriented forms. He would bring back the etlean race in its mighty form once he gets his hands on the sword.

The human specimens at his laboratory were successfully injected with fox genomes and they have inherited fox characteristics. Now if he kickstarted the signature radiations, he could create the wormhole and transport them into a nuclear-subjugated dimension. These signature radiations were like the fuel for the engine. 

These wormholes are flexible bands with alternate arrangements of positive and negative energies. To the world it was inexistent but to him, it would be his priceless creation.

Present:

Charu waited as said over the call that night with the lights on. Charu’s father had taken her grandmother to the hospital and she was alone. She waited occasionally having a glance through her window. It was after 30 mins of waiting she heard her doorbell ring. She opened the door and let him inside.

Vincent heard from his team that Abyss was heading to Charu’s house. He drove straight to Charu’s house. Vincent was a man devoid of emotions and in fact, Charu’s actions affected him yet he sympathized with the girl. He knew what Abyss is capable of, he silently prayed for the girl’s safety. Vincent needed Abyss alive to interrogate him and make him spill out details.

Charu stood frozen near the doorway as the man opposite him was pointing the pistol to her forehead. “Evil?’, she asked in a whisper. Abyss gently nodded his head and let out shrieking laughter.

Grief filled Charu's heart as Yuvaan's images flashed before her eyes. She wanted revenge on Abyss but he was more powerful than her. She knew a close-range shot from his pistol would blow her brains. She started to shudder at the thought of her head exploding.

Dr. Abbas was tensed as Charu's heartbeat and blood pressure were rising alarmingly and the medicines were ineffective. In his years of vast and dynamic experience, he has not experienced a case like this. He decided to bring in doctors from abroad to treat Charu's condition which was worse than delusional syndrome.
