Chapter 3

Janvi and Rajat were never interested to know why the other person was not interested in marriage. That evening Rajat and Rahul were partying in a pub. Rajat seemed happy. “Dude don't you think we should find out the reason why Janvi is not interested in marriage?” Let me call shilpa and figure this out” he went ahead and fished out the phone from his pocket. No don't, I don't care about the reason behind it, all I need is a way out of this and don't you dare do anything with your girlfriend without my knowledge and ruin things for me. Rahul quietly put the phone back in his pocket. On the other side, Janvi was talking to Shilpa. “Everything seems to be fine…. But why does he hate marriage so much? let me talk to Rahul and find out” said Shipa. “No!!” screamed Janvi, “don't do that!! I’m not interested in knowing… promise me you’ll not reveal my secret to Rahul”. Shilpa promised she will not tell Janvi's secret to Rahul nor ask him anything about Rajat. 

Couple of days passed, both the families started with their preparations for the wedding.Rajat was busy working in his laptop his mom came in “come on Rajat get ready we’ve got to go shopping”. “What shopping?” Asked Rajat without taking his eyes off his laptop, his mom walked up to him, closed the laptop and replied “your wedding shopping, do you remember? We should buy her a wedding saree, jewels and what not there’s no time to waste”. “But mom, i know nothing about all that…… you go with her”. “Do you at least talk to her once a day?” asked his mom. Rajat quickly responded “Oh yes I do... In fact, just few mins ago spoke to her”. “Good… how is my daughter in law…. is she good or does she try to rule over you?”. “Mom nobody can control me; I am the ruler”. “Fine, fine now get ready we have to go… Janvi will expect to see you for sure…. come on make it fast” said his mother. “Okay!!” said Rajat and jumped out of his bed. He closed the door once his mom walked out and reached out for his phone, He remembered Rahul once saved Janvi's number in his Phone. Rajat dialled Janvi's number. Janvi looked at her phone and answered the unknown number. "Hello" said Janvi. “Ummm hey hi… Rajat here” he replied. “Rajat?” Janvi thought for a second and then she replied “hey… yeah… what’s up”. “Sorry mom was asking me to join our wedding shopping, I couldn't say no…. this should look like a perfect wedding to them so thought I will join, but only if you are ok with it”. “I am absolutely okay with it. Afterall; we are tying the knot to make them happy aren’t we……so yea…why not?” Replied Janvi. “Okay then will see you soon” said Rajat and hung up the call. 

Shopping Mall.

They all met at the shopping Centre. Janvi wished all the elders of Rajat's family and Rajat did the same to Janvi's family. “This is going to be a real marriage for others and for us this is a huge celebration. We are going to escape from marriage through marriage so don’t worry about the cost, choose what you like” said Rajat smiling at her. Janvi smiled back and said “you too, you can buy anything you like”. 

Once done with shopping both the families had dinner together and parted their ways. 

Next morning Rajat's phone started ringing, without opening his eyes he answered the call. “Hello Rajat”. “yes!” he replied. “We have only 5 days left for our wedding, after the wedding we have 7-10 days…. we have to travel…. we can't act like a perfect couple for long. We both have to get our tickets booked on the same day so we can go to the airport together and then you can leave to Sydney and I’ll leave to New jersey”. “Wait, I haven't even opened my eyes yet…give me some time.... Leave the tickets to me I will get it done!”. Janvi replied “ok but don't delay, bye”. Oh god…. This woman is non stop” he murmured and walked into his washroom. 

Later in the evening Janvi received call from Rajat, “my flight timings and dates are not matching with yours… What do we do now?”. “You stay in a hotel and travel back or stay in Dubai and then take your connecting flight whenever it is available” replied Janvi “That sounds good” said Rajat. 

The next evening Janvi received a call from Shilpa, she Said “Janu, Rahul is coming to meet me the very next day of your wedding and he is going to be here for at least a month. He said Rajat's flight tickets and yours weren’t available on the same day so why don't Rajat come here and then he can travel to Sydney”. “I don’t think it’s a good idea Shilpa. We’re just helping each other get out of the marriage. I don't want it to escalate into anything else”. “I don’t think it will escalate as long as you guys are sure of what you want. My question is…. Do you have an issue with the plan?”. “No” replied Janvi. “Okay I will call back in a while.” said Shilpa. 

After a few minutes Shilpa called back, it was a conference call with Rajat and Rahul. Rahul asked Rajat if he can accompany him till New Jersey. Rajat said “I am okay if Janvi is okay with it” he replied... “that shouldn't be an issue...” she said. Finally their tickets are booked, and they would be flying exactly on the 9th day post their wedding.
