Best Friends

It was midnight. Being a night owl she prepared her bed, kept her necessities nearby and slipped into the blanket. She plugged in her earphones and started scribbling.

Suddenly she felt a twinge in her heart. As if someone was stabbing her and ripped open all the memories of the day like a flashback. The ominous memories, one that was better kept in the closet.

She wanted to cry her heart out. All she was in search of was a shoulder to cry on, an ear to be heard and a heart who would understand her

And who could understand her better than her best friend?

"The number you are trying to call is not answering. Please try again later."

She tried again after 15 minutes but got the same response.

"Damn! He was sleeping again."

Angrily, she got a chocolate from the refrigerator and took out another novel to read.

A world of fairies and gallant knights, of moss like earth and milk white waters, of perpetual happiness and everlasting love, she found between the covers.

Five minutes later everything changed, cries into smile and frustration into satisfaction. She slept peacefully that night.

She understood that books were her real best friend!
