Ratna started preparing all mango 🥭 dishes, as her husband was bringing his colleagues and his boss, Gunashekar, for lunch. Fifteen colleagues were expected that day. She was a very good cook, and she prepared a variety of mango dishes.
She had prepared mango chutney, mango salad, mango sour curry, mango soft milkshake, mango pickles, and mango rice bath.
She had plucked almost all the mangoes from her tree—some for cooking and some for giving as gifts.
She looked after her garden trees like her own children. She cared for and nourished them very well.
Along with the mango tree, there were jackfruit trees, guava trees, and some flowering plants.
She would read books to learn how to take care of them. She would buy organic fertilizers for the healthy growth of her trees. Sometimes, she would collect vegetable and fruit waste and pour it near the tree trunks for nourishment.
That noon, sharp at 1 PM, everyone came to her house. After chatting for a few minutes, they took their plates as Ratna and Madhu’s home was small, so it was a buffet system.
All ate sumptuously, licking their hands in satisfaction.
They appreciated her for her tasty cooking. One of the colleagues said, “Your husband was right—you cook amazingly!”
Boss Gunashekar was also impressed.
Ratna thought about how she had fascinated her husband by cooking bisibelebath when Madhu had come to see her for marriage. Her mother’s words echoed in her ears, saying, “The journey to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”
Madhu loved her looks and her cooking.
She was happy that she was called “Annapoorneshwari” by all the staff members. Encouraged by her husband, she started her own cooking channel.
