A Tribute To My Mother

Parenting is the toughest job on earth but it gets easier if you have support from your own folks during this journey. A lot of people have contributed to my motherhood journey so far including my husband, my dad and my brother. But the most important person has been my own mother. Through this blog, I want to express my greatest gratitude to my tribe i.e. my mother.

Today my baby is a year old. Since the news about my pregnancy came, my mother has travelled to Oman, as I live there, three times. She has a busy life yet at the age of 65, she makes herself available whenever I need her. Apart from her trips to my home, I also stayed with her for a couple of months during pregnancy and post-delivery. With the hormonal changes and the fear of being new parents, a woman goes through severe mood swings. All this time while I insisted to do things my way, many times getting angry as well, she quietly tolerated. Now that I am a mother myself, I don't know how much of the things my mother did for me, will I be able to do. But I do know that despite the generation gap, the connection that she has with my daughter is simply so beautiful. She inspires me to never give up in tough situations and to smile through challenges fearlessly. Isn't that what real motherhood is all about?

I am forever indebted to her for giving me birth, raising me, educating me, making me capable and contributing to my baby's growth. We often take the people who love us the most for granted without realizing that life is too short for regrets. One day everyone is going to die. Today is all we have, so instead of fighting, be grateful that at least you have a tribe that you can call your own. My family is my tribe. Who is your tribe, the one who will never leave your hand despite your flaws? Please share your story in the comments section.
