Infidelity

Pooja finished from work, picked up her daughter from day care, rushed home and got the dinner ready. What a perfect mom she was! Raj loved her for being such a supportive partner. She balanced everything so perfectly. In return all she ever asked for was 1 day each month for herself. Raj never asked her where she went or what she did because it was her space and he trusted her completely.

Today was Pooja's day off. She kissed her daughter goodbye and walked to the bus stop. Her mobile rang. She answered "I just left. I'll see you in 30 minutes." Ajit waved at her when she reached the beach. She ran to him and they kissed. After the long kiss, Ajit unbuttoned her shirt and they made out at the beach. Then they went to the bar. While sipping his glass of wine, he said to her "We are together for the last 3 years. I love you. Why don't you tell Raj about us? Let's get married. I am a lawyer and I will ensure that you get your daughter's custody. I can't keep myself away from you anymore."

Pooja smiled at him and said "Just because I sleep with you once in a month doesn't mean I don't love Raj. I am a loyal wife and a devoted mother. You are just my getaway from the boring routine of my regular life. I admire you but I don't love you. Wasn't that the deal we had from the very beginning?" Ajit was disappointed but he didn't want to let go of what he had with Pooja. Pooja lived double lives simply because she was not happy within the space of her so-called happy marriage. Raj lived delusionally thinking that he had a perfect life. According to Pooja, she did not commit infidelity as her relationship with Ajit was purely physical and gave her the excitement that was lacking in her marriage.

So who was really wrong in this? Was it Raj who didn't care to notice what his wife so desperately needed? Was it Ajit who continued to be in a relationship which was not love?
