(Present)

My phone's screen flashed and I saw a message,

"I'm standing near the exit gate, my taxi will arrive in 5 mins; Come and meet me."

I knew I had to make a move so I can see her for the last time before she leaves. I stood up and I started running, everyone looked surprised even my economics teacher. The exit gate was around 800 meters from my classroom.

As soon as I approached the exit gate, I saw a taxi leaving. As I stepped out, the taxi was out of sight, for a moment I thought my last chance has gone in vain. I uttered a name, "VANSHIKAAA", and I heard someone's voice from behind.

"Look behind you idiot"

There she is laughing at my condition, she came forward and she wiped my face with her dupatta.

When I saw her smiling, my heart was at peace.

When rays of sunlight fell over her face she looked mesmerizing and suddenly few past memories flashed back.

(Past)

When I saw her for the first time, she was standing near the corridor, dressed up with a sense of elegance on her face. We looked at each other for a moment and I felt something.

I started attending college regularly just to have a glimpse for her whenever I pass through the corridor. I didn't have the courage to express my feelings and I was waiting for the right moment.

We had to choose a partner for our fresher's party and I wonder is it the right moment I have been waiting for. For the first in 3 months, I had the courage to ask her out. When I stopped near her class suddenly I saw her with someone else.

Holding hands and laughing their heart out and I was happy for her though I felt really bad.

(Present)

She called my name and I regained my sense. She said, "So, this is the part where we say goodbye." I replied, "Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you Until we meet again!

I opened my bag and gave her the chocolate which I brought for her. Her smile was bright and suddenly I remembered after that encounter when I saw her with a boy, for months I didn't try to have a glance for her.

(Past)

During our fest, I saw her sitting near the amphitheater with tears in her eyes and she was eating chocolate. I couldn't resist myself I approached her, we talked for an hour. She felt better and I got to know that she is a bit broken from inside. Sometimes reality struck hard, all her friends stopped talking to her, she had a very bad relationship and she was quite lonely now. We had many things in common. The only thing which came in my mind was to make her happy and alive again so I asked her to spend her entire day with me. She said, "Surely but first be my alarm clock and wake me up tomorrow." And we both started laughing.

I saw her coming down wearing a red kurta and trust me she looked beautiful. I greeted her with a hug, she was quite surprised and I knew today I had to make her feel special.

We sat down in the canteen, talked about our flaws, weakness, likes, dislikes, etc. and I got to know her more. With each passing minute, I started falling for her. I saw the weather turned out to be a romantic one, I asked her out for a walk.

As we were walking, I felt I was out of my misery, suddenly our hands touched and I got hold of it.

We were lost in our own world, two introverts having time for their life. It was quite late, I had to leave and I looked at her with a belief that she will say 'Stay' but instead I heard something brought me back to reality.

"I'm leaving this college tomorrow because I got admission in my dream college and I wished we had more time.' Why good things never last for a longer period. I was sad and she saw that too.

She came forward to hug me, after the hug we were quite close to each other. I saw her eyes and I was out of words. I kissed her forehead and I gave her the ring I brought for her. I turned back with tears in my eyes and smile on my face.

(Present)

She pinched my shoulder and laughingly she said, "where is your mind, huh I'm standing right next to you." I just nodded my head and looked at her. I hold her hands and I saw a ring which I bought for her the previous day.

It was time for her to leave and I didn't know what to say. I love her and she loves her dream, all I could do is to let her go. At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart but not in your life. I hugged her and I wanted to whisper "I can still love you and let you go." But instead, I said, "The thing I'm most afraid of is forgetting you."
