A Profound Lesson For Life

It all happened sometime in the year 1991 when I was fourteen. I was back home after school. I had my bath, changed my clothes and sat down to eat food. While having my food, I was told by my mother that today our neighbour threw hot water behind the wall not realizing that a kitten was playing there. It was one of the four kittens which my pet cat gave birth to a month ago. Immediately I asked my mother about the kitten. She said that the kitten is no more and was buried in the ground.

Within no time, tears rolled out of my eyes and today even when I am forty-two, I still remember and wonder why did I cry so much? What was my relation with the kitten? The only answer I get “may be God himself had to come in the form of a kitten to help me understand the pain one undergoes when they lose their loved ones”.
