A lone crisis amidst plenty

A lone crisis amidst plenty

Much needed help does not come so easily, especially in times of crisis, as compared to casual or routine help, for which volunteers are readily available and easily accessible. But this is not the case during emergency situations wherein you find yourself all alone to deal with the unforseen crisis with not a single soul around you.

The other day while driving on the road or highway in the outskirts of a city, I came across a huge bulky truck stranded on the road because of a flat tyre in the rear wheel and the driver sitting helplessly waiting for some help which was the need of the hour. He did not carry a spare tyre with him because these tyres on wheels were trustworthy, robust & new and hence he had not anticipated a flat tyre.

Ironically, the truck was loaded with brand new exportable tyres (for transportation & sale) but none of them fit for replacement (none of them matched the damaged tyre). In other words, none of the brand new tyres stacked on the truck were fit or useful for the truck in order to replace the flat/damaged tyre and bring it back on wheels.

Simply put, the tyres meant for transportation & sale did not suit the truck nor served the end purpose of the truck which was actually & literally carrying their burden !

This pathetic sight of the truck reminded me of those people including me who have "many friends", but the day you badly need one, no one can really help. What use are your "Facebook friends" when they can't save your "face" in times of urgent need or crisis ? The fact remains that they don't "suit" you, so what if you happen to carry their burden !

A friend in "urgent" need is rare indeed. A friend in dire straits is impossible indeed. We are dealing with a lone crisis to be dealt alone !!
