Sakshi and Sonali lived with their parents in Baroda. Sakshi was 13 years old and Sonali was 11 years old. They both studied in the same school. They had a loving family.

Sakshi being the elder sibling always used to make her younger sister do all her chores. One day the mother summoned Sakshi and asked her to explain why she made Sonali do most of her work? Sakshi’s mother told her that her sister was younger to her by 2 years and that did not mean that she was allowed to take advantage of this situation and trouble her sister. Sakshi denied saying that she did household work along with her younger sister.

As exam time was fast approaching, both the sisters were studying in their room. Their mother came and inquired about the progress of the study. Sonali replied that she was working hard to accomplish her goal, while Sakshi was overconfident and replied to her mother that she was sure to top her class this time.

As years passed by, Sakshi appeared for her board examination of class 10th while Sonali appeared for Grade VIIIth exam. Sakshi had also become more and more dominating and overconfident about herself.

Sonali continued with her hard work and focused way to excel in her studies. It was now time for the board examinations. Sakshi was again overconfident about her performance while Sonali had taken keen interest in the study.'

As soon as the vacation got over, Sakshi and Sonali got their results. Sakshi had not performed well. She barely managed to get 68% in the final board exam, while Sonali had topped her class. Mother told Sakshi to congratulate Sonali. Just then their aunt came with gifts for both the girls. She was curious to know the results. She too congratulated Sonali for her performance and explained to Sakshi the importance of hard work and the value of being humble. The mother also advised Sakshi to mend her ways and be humble with everyone. She also emphasized that one should do their own work and work harder for better results next time.

Sakshi realized her mistake and thought ways to improve upon them and followed her mother’s advice and scored good marks next time. She also started doing her own work and being humble to others. Sakshi had learnt her lesson for life!!
