A Glow in the Darkness

"I don't know why I am screaming. I have been in this dark for so many months. So it's a normal thing for me. Then why am I fearing?. Can I get some water? I am thirsty. Please give me some water. Why I had been in this dark for so many months. What is the mistake I have made? When will you release me? When can I be free from this darkness?" shouted Harry. A person at a distance heard this and asked him to shut his mouth.

 

Still, there are a lot of questions from Harry: Am I a warrior? Do you guys want me for something? I don't know why you guys are torturing me. I tried to kill myself, but you guys stopped me. You are threatening me by saying killing my family. I have a daughter who was just 2 years old. I need my family. I need to see them. Please leave me. Please help me," screamed Harry. As he was screaming and crying, the man was in his room thinking about something.

 

"Why am I torturing my own brother? Why have I been so cruel? For what have I been so cruel and torturing my brother?" said Berlin. He needs the answer from his friend Britto. Britto said that it was because of greed and love for money. Berlin regretted and said that he already has a lot of money and has never been greedy. His friend asked why then, and he replied with laughter that it was because of the power. He begins to sing and makes his way towards the darkroom.

 

He sings with a high pitch in the end, where he reaches the place and sees his own brother Harry. "How are you, my younger brother? It's been a long time since I have seen you, "said Berlin. "Who is your brother, and how dare you call me your brother? You are dumb. I don't need to see you again, said Harry. Berlin laughed and kicked his mouth and said that he has everything the world consider bigger, which is the ultimate power.

 

The flashback starts in the 1990s, as they both were siblings and also one of the powerful gangsters in the town. They planned to kill James, their only opponent in the town. Again, the flashback went back to where both Harry and Berlin were working under a gangster group. They were teens at that time. They lost their parents in their childhood. Their father was a local gangster. So both the brothers aimed to become powerful gangsters.

 

James was an old guy, and he was a powerful gangster from generations, and he saw Harry and Berlin as fresh bloods. So he offered them a small part in his work. Both accepted and worked with him. As the time flew away, both became well known among the people. Even though both were popular, the town is still under the control of James. Berlin, as an older person, thought it was the right time to step out as a real gangster and decided not to work with James as a puppet.

 

Harry stayed calm and said that it was not their time, but surely they can win over time. Berlin said that he (Harry) has a fear of James and is also comfortable working as a servant for him. Harry remained calm and said that James only had lifted them, and it is not so fair to be against him. Berlin said a plan for killing James. At first Harry refused, but as the time went on, both were on a rage and against James. James noted their activities, and he himself decided to punish them.

 

The time came where the doomsday plan started. Both the brothers planned to kill him in the bar, where he rarely visits without any guards for relaxing. He went inside the bar, and the BGM rolls, where both of them enter the bar secretly by smashing the bodyguards outside the bar. As they were inside, he was drinking a glass full of wine. As James saw them, he laughed like a hell. "Common boys, is this your power, killing a person like a coward?" As he was laughing, Berlin rushed to kill him but missed.

 

James said that it was a poor plan to kill himself when he is alone in the bar, and he also said that most of the people tried to kill him but they failed as most of his murders were in that bar. Both were confused and decided to kill him by dagger. Both were failed and heavily injured by James, as he was a trained fighter even at his old age. James made them faint. He decided to kill them. But Harry managed to escape from the place where Berlin was trapped. As his brother was in danger, he decided to do something but he failed.

 

He ran for his life without any help. He managed to get out of the town. He also came to know that his brother was dead. He cried and asked himself why they had been so foolish. He screamed in a loud voice when he woke up from his dream. Now Harry was living in another country with another verified profile. His past was true, but the thing his brother tortured him in a dark place and having a child was his dream because he believed that his brother's soul was angry with him and also that his brother was not happy in achieving the great power.

 

Even though his past was dark and full of violence, his present life was peaceful, such as working as a butcher (who sells meat), which he already learnt in his childhood and working with his brother initially. Even though he left his brother in a dangerous state, he considered it his starting point for his peaceful life. So he felt something—there was a glow in the darkness of his life. But something felt bad in his mind. He went to his shop and started to chop something fleshy. It was not an animal's flesh. It was a human's flesh. 

 

It was revealed that James had found out his location and tried to kill him, where Harry, in anger, killed James and his gang unexpectedly in his own butcher shop, where Harry is chopping the flesh of James with an angered smile for taking revenge against his brother's death. Also, it was revealed that his presence in another country was exposed by himself disguised as another person as James's true worker with the seal of their gang, which they use in letters while in another country for passing information.

 

As he worked with him, he came to know the seal and planned to bring him in his place to kill. So he designed a seal like that and passed information about his identity and indicated the location. As he was well prepared, he executed his plan perfectly and finally killed James. He knew that his life would be different afterwards. So again, he decided to shift his life to another country where he lived with a different verified profile, and the story ends where an unknown person from his back stabbed him with a knife. He turned and saw a face that was blurry to him but almost similar to his brother's face. (imagines death in his brother's face.)
