You, And Then The Moon
You, And Then The Moon
And then there are moments when I love you
As much as I love the moon
On the days it is ripe and full
And miss you as much as I miss it
On nights it refuses to see me
Or am as much annoyed with you
As on evenings when I want to see only some of its face
Or when it’s just a beautiful thought
Or song
Flowing through my memory
Gently,
Incessantly,
Coherently.
You and I, separated by miles
United by thoughts
I know you think of me
Right when I do of you
That’s why those dreams..
And on days of complete darkness
When I'm lost in twilight
I seek your presence
Or your disdain, or insolence
Whatever you have to offer..
I know, it’s only ephemeral
Just as that emerging meniscus
That veils you from me today
Announcing after seven nights..
Don't hide, let me take a glimpse
Before the eternal eclipse
You are my moon
And I am yours
Did you know the moon also had one of its own?
Why, then, can I not?
Why, then, shall we not ascend the silvern ladder
Far away from this grey world
Meet underneath a starry hedge
If perpetual abstinence is what they call life?
I would rather not wait to see you on the other side.
