Yearly Just Once
Yearly Just Once

Wonder why the festivals
Come yearly only once?
They are strange occurrences,
They better be had just once.
They are tests of patience,
Surrounded by nosey guests,
Pretending to like their comments,
Though you think they are mere nuts.
Morn till night, work never ends,
Preparation for the cook, the serves.
Undecided about which is worse,
Cleanups before or after the festivals.
An invitation to unwanted calories,
Much fuss about the dress,
Tired, drained, and lifeless,
The reason is anybody’s guess.
Pressure to conform to standards,
To keep up with the Jones’.
Aren’t you glad the festivals
Come yearly just once!
