It can be simple, it can be sweet,

A little cute, in essence, a great treat.

To have hope, a cherished dream,

To have it fulfilled, with joy you scream.

An intention, deep desire, longing,

No genie turns up, but you are forgiving.

A long wait, at the verge of cracking,

At the breaking point, you stare without seeing.

An aspiration you grow up nurturing,

Deep within you, but it keeps you going.

Your yearning fuels your flight,

Your ambition propels you into the night.

Finally, you get what you wanted all along,

You go around in high spirits mightily proclaiming.

A little boy tugs at y dress, I look down with a swish,

With a bright smile, he asks, what is a wish?
