We will build an India where..
We will build an India where..
This year on 15 August 2020 we have completed 73 years of Independence.
But the real question is is this the Bharat that our beloved freedom fighters fought for....
What I really want is
To not see children of my age
Begging around the streets selling books and pens;
And the irony is that they can't go to school;
But selling around things,
So that we won't have to go to our schools, colleges empty-handed.
To not see small babies starving,
Sleeping on the roads without a roof,
Shivering in cold,
With a dog as the only companion
By their side.
We will build an India
Where there's peace between communities,
Grand celebrations of all festivals
together,
And not the bard of blood,
And the fights between communities,
Because we all are Indians
And we are one.
I want to build an India
Where forests like Aarey won't have to perish;
But let such forests spread its green majesty and flourish.
I want to see an India
Where every youngster receives employment,
Where topics like depression,
sex education, menstruation aren't considered a taboo.
Where the LGBTQ community receives love
and respect they deserve,
I want to see a country
Where women are free to move anywhere at any time,
The society not judging her over her clothes,
Because ask the meaning of freedom to us, women,
Who fear to go at nights alone in dark,
Fearing the dark monsters.
I want a country where women shouldn't be told to stay at home,
But a country where boys are taught to not make women feel unsafe.
I want to build an India
Where women aren't afraid of anyone,
Where she can feel strong
And where all are equal.
In a country where women are worshipped as Goddesses,
How can then menstruating women be considered as impure?
Because if it were not menstruation
Me and you wouldn't probably be here either.
We are the land of knowledge and wisdom,
India is a land where 'zero' was invented,
Where plastic surgery was conducted
at a time when the world wasn't even aware,
Where Ayurveda was born,
Where Agastya Samhita mentioned about batteries around 4000 years ago.
All I can say is this list goes till infinity,
Our country is incredibly rich in culture, heritage, science, physics;
Still rather than fighting each other,
Let's vow to fight the monsters, the problems hindering our progress, creating barriers;
Now is the time to help ourselves,
Make an India where everyone is free to do what they want,
Love who we want,
Let's pledge that we will build #freeindia
Some have said "Bharat sone ki chidiya thi","Pinjre mei kaid hai";
Show them "Bharat ek azad chidiya hai".
