Water lily

Standing solemn, floating in a trance,

Along the edge of a lake, warm,

Beguiled by the beauty near,

A water lily, as blue as I am.

Caressed by the leaves around,

Drawn up by the untiring roots,

Warmed up by the tiny waves,

Smiled at by the mundane weeds.

But there lies the land so near,

And yet sorely unreachable,

Teeming with roses, sunflowers,

Chirping birds, and butterflies.

Enamored by the sight of sunlight,

Pouring on to those blessed beings,

I find it hard enough to dwell,

And to belong to my abode.

But this day, I was well awakened,

By the gleaming rays of golden sun,

To lend them the hues of my petals,

To fill in their feel of gratification.

Yes, I cant be part of the coveted land,

And my roots wouldn't embrace me back.

Wilted and parched, I would sink deep,

Engulfed by the water down.

But here I'm, rising up to the rays,

Holding myself, par with the land,

All 'coz, though for a moment,

I would see my life, glowing up.
