To Be Indians Or Humans First
To Be Indians Or Humans First
We all seem to be having a desire to be Indians,
Because in being Indians we want to find our Identity,
Don’t we have any Identity for ourselves now?
We are not sure as we may not know who is an Indian.
We must find a reason for being identified as Indians
And that must be to show to the world that we are all Humans,
Can we ever succeed in reaching this noble feat?
It may be possible only when there is no struggle for any Identity.
When we call ourselves Human it may not be our Identity
Since we are not bound to prove it to anybody in the world
Humans are natural habitats in this world as any other creatures
And unlike us, they never struggle for an Identity of their own.
But then, why are we struggling so much to be Indians?
Is it because, we want to find unity, which has eluded us?
Is it because we are not very sure who among us may be Indians?
Or, is it because we are confused about the meaning of ‘Indian’?
If at all we have a confusion as to who may be an Indian
It must be due to the presence of a sense of separation in our mind,
And this sense of separation must have its root
In many divisions in terms of religion, caste, culture and all.
Who among these divisions might be struggling for an Identity?
Are those who claim to be Indians trying to deny others that Identity?
Are those doubtful of their own identity trying to become Indians?
Or, are we now trying to define who can probably be an Indian?
We may not escape from the sense of separation even with the Identity
Since, being known as Indians, we may have to continue further
To remain separate from the Russians, Americans, Chinese and so on
As the name ‘Indian’ appears to be an identity of our nationality.
All the humans have divided themselves into many nationalities,
Which is nothing but dividing the Earth, our commonplace of dwelling,
As we must have fought among ourselves in the past
With a feeling of fear of one’s tribalism getting threatened by others.
It must have been the same human struggle from time immemorial
For deciding who must rule this entire Earth and continue to survive,
The Individual Consciousness with its identity as the ‘Self’
May have an inherent quality of separating from Human Consciousness.
Every individual is, no doubt, unique in its physiological construct
And, unfortunately, this sense of uniqueness has become psychological
With the individual ‘self’ trying to find its independent existence
And not being able to find coherence and harmony with all others.
What if we all appear to be unique physiologically or otherwise?
Don’t we all share the same human thoughts, feelings, and emotions
By responding to pleasure and pain in terms of acceptance and rejection,
Which is nothing but the unique nature of Human Consciousness?
When we all understand that we share the Human Consciousness
We must cherish the unique natural identity as Human Beings,
Because we the Humans are the grandest creature on this Earth
It is meaningless to fight for new identities other than ‘Humans’.
