The window of a first date
The window of a first date
In that vintage coffee house,
We met on a first date
You sit across from me,
Smiling and sipping your coffee,
But I can see the sadness in your eyes,
The unspoken pain that you try to hide,
The fear of infidelity and betrayal.
We sit in silence,
Listening to the music on speaker.
Nervously fidgeting with the napkin,
Wondering if this is a mistake,
But then you reach across the table,
Taking my hand in yours.
I couldn't help but giggle
And my heart was so sensitive
At the coziness of affinity,
And I know that we'll be all right.
It was like a roller coaster
One moment beautiful
And the next filled with fear
But I was comforted by your presence
And the rain outside the window
Painted a beautiful blue hue.
