The Staircase Of Life
The Staircase Of Life
Look at the girl now
Who's walking upstairs
Leaving behind
Her family's care
Her mother and father
Look proudly at her
But looking at her sibling
Something in her stirs
She looks behind
Each memory passing by
Still makes out a smile
Bidding a goodbye
Staring ahead
Where a new life starts
A question crosses her mind,
Will she make it to the new people's heart?
Gathering courage
She takes a step forward
But as the weight of responsibilities increase
She feels like a coward
She lets out a breath
She didn't know she was holding in
Her former self says
Look how good you're moulding in
The people now say
Her younger self was just a lost cause
And look at her now
Trying to fulfill the expectations of her in laws
The little free bird
Who grew up into a beautiful woman
Is now caged
Deprived of her freedom.
