To draft own constitution,

Declared democratic Republic

On 26th January 1950,

Became Sovereign Nation

Bearing the required features

The territory with boundaries,

The land having the population,

The government to administer,

The sovereignty to the nation

The Republic Day in

The capital is celebrated

To commemorate the people’s

Democratic rule, on

26th January every year

The tricolor is hoisted

At the esteemed hands

Of the President at

The India Gate gathering

He receives the guards

Of honour from the passing

Parades, bestows gallantry

And civil awards
